IB2’s Production Process
IB2 is the only industrial-scale technology that makes low-grade bauxite economically and environmentally viable.
By unlocking resources previously considered uneconomic, IB2 strengthens sovereignty, extends the life of existing assets, and addresses the alumina industry’s most pressing ESG challenges.
A Unique, Patented Technology for 2 Sustainable Eco-solutions
The IB2 process primarily transforms low-grade bauxite into improved bauxite, which serves as feedstock for refineries.
However, this is not its only output. In addition to the upgraded bauxite, the IB2 process also produces a highly valuable by-product: Tobermorite.
Far more than just a mineral, Tobermorite is a valuable product in its own right and can be marketed primarily as a sustainable substitute for conventional cement.

Our 4 main Outputs:
Improved Bauxite and Tobermorite

A Model with Multiple Benefits
Economic benefits
Reduces dependence on imported high-grade bauxite by enabling the use of local, previously stranded reserves.
Up to 30 percent less bauxite required per ton of alumina produced, lowering mining costs and extending mine lifespans.
Up to 40 percent lower refining costs compared to the traditional Bayer process on low-grade ore.
Creates additional income opportunities through the production of recyclable co-products such as rare metals concentrates and tobermorite, a form of green cement.
Environmental benefits
Reductions of up to 40 percent through both process efficiency and decreased transport requirements.
Up to 80 percent less water consumption, reducing stress on freshwater resources.
60 percent less red mud generated, directly addressing the industry’s largest ecological liability.
Caustic soda consumption lowered by approximately 70 percent, decreasing both cost and environmental impact.
